Top 20 Compromised Passwords on the Dark Web

This is Crazy, but so is the World,  Lookout, which makes cloud security apps for mobile devices, noted in a December blog post that, on average, 80% of consumers have had their emails leaked onto the dark web. You could easily be among that majority without even knowing it. Also, we all need to be aware that the Russians are going to start trying to inflict pain on the US. (It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out.)

So, these leaked emails often lead hackers directly to your passwords for other online accounts and identity theft, Lookout said. Here’s the company’s list of the 20 passwords most commonly found on the dark web, due to data breaches:

Any of these Passwords Yours? If so I would suggest  changing your password to something only you would know. Try to use Passphrases.  A good example would be the last three towns you lived in all squished together or your favorite Sports Teams all pushed together. NIST Guidance says that you don’t need to change password unless it has been compromised.

Also, turn on two-factor authentication. You know the one that sends you a code on your phone, to  verify that it is you.

With the Russia Thing going on, you can’t be too careful.
