Russian Hacker Gets 40 Years for Selling Creds on Dark Web

russian hackerWASHINGTON –  Georgy Kavzharadze, 27, of Moscow, Russia, was sentenced on August 14, 2024 to 40 Years in prison for being a prolific vendor of stolen financial information, login credentials, and other personally identifying information (PII) on a criminal internet marketplace called Slilpp.

Kavzharadze had previously pleaded guilty on February 16, 2024, to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud. In addition to the prison term, the Judge ordered Kavzharadze to pay $1,233,521.47 in restitution.

The conviction came from a FBI “Coordinated Action” in 2021 with international law enforcement partners. The FBI’s “Coordinated Action” resulted in the disruption of the darknet site Slilpp by seizing its infrastructure (database) and domain names.

Up until then, Slilpp was dark web marketplace  for buying and selling stolen account credentials is now offline.

The captured database contained a wealth of historical information about Slilpp vendors, customers, and transactions, including subscriber and payment information for individual accounts that have been used to buy and sell login credentials over the site.

The database accurately reflected known transactions and subscriber records, including FBI undercover purchases.

According to court documents, the Russian Hacker using the name “TeRorPP,” listed over 626,100 stolen login credentials for sale on Slilpp and sold more than 297,300 of them on the illegal marketplace. Those credentials were subsequently linked to $1.2 million in fraudulent transactions. On May 27, 2021,  his account on Slilpp listed 240,495 login credentials for sale that would allow the buyer to use the information to steal money from the victim’s online payment and bank accounts.

The credentials included access to accounts with banks located in New York, California, Nevada, and Georgia. Bitcoin as was used as payment for the credentials. An FBI analysis connected Kavzharadze to withdrawals of more $200,000 in Slilpp profits from his Bitcoin account. Kavzharadze was also known as “George” and went by online monikers of “TeRorPP,” “Torqovec,” and “PlutuSS.” In Cyrillic his name is ГЕОРГИЙ КАХОВИЧ КАВЖАРАДЗЕ.
